We were delighted to support the Women's Climbing Symposium back in October 2015. The aims of the symposium are to connect, inspire and develop women’s climbing through collective climbing experiences, the latest research and the best coaching. To create a welcoming environment for women of all abilities from every background by creating a program that is diverse and interesting.
Rebecca sent back a mini report of the event and the video has recently been screened over on BMC TV.
300 women from all over the UK (and a few from abroad) gathered at the Climbing Works for the fifth annual Women's Climbing Symposium.Knowing that something special was in store, the first participants were queuing a full hour before the doors opened .
And they were not disappointed! This year's headline speakers were the legendary Catherine Destivelle, hilarious Caro Ciavaldini and mountaining-biking ace Rachel Atherton, who sharedtheir successes, failures and motivations, leaving the crowdpsyched and ready to get out there!
This year's theme was 'Climbing2me' and organisers Shauna Coxey and Emma Flaherty encouraged all participantstocreate their own personal pathway through the day, sharing their relationship with climbing, choosing from a range of talks and participating in coaching sessions withthe UK's top women climbers and coaches. During the lunch break the screening room was packed outfor a special treat - an advance screening of Operation Moffat.
