Sonder Pinion Bikes
Pinion gearboxes are super durable and practically maintenance-free with superb gear ratio making them ideal for low maintenance and long distance riding.
Sonder Pinion Bikes
Pinion gearboxes make a lot of sense. They have internal gearing floating in abathof oil and get rid of the external derailleur and cassette system that are almost ubiquitousin modern mountain, gravel and road bikes.
Having no external gears they stay permanently in tune. Getting rid of the variable chainline reduces chain and cog wear so they last much longer.
So a Pinion gearbox is highly durable, carries minimal risk of external damage and is virtually maintenance-free with negligible drag from running a sealed gearbox as just two gears are engaged at any particular time.
Say goodbye to ongoing tuning and tinkering with high or low limits, B-tension, or a bent derailleur hanger. Pinion recommends just an annual oil change or 6,000 miles.
The bike is built around the gearbox which replaces the typical bottom bracket shell. The low weight of the gearbox (which does weigh more than a traditional set-up) increases the ride experience.
The ride experience is amazing with unrivalled ride dynamics from fast shifting through the grip shifter and equal jumps between gears with a super wide gear ratio. Being able to change gear when stationary is particularly useful when fully loaded.
Pinion is a good option for low-maintenance, long-distance riding.
