If you’re planning a bike ride and looking to hire a bike, renting one of our demo bikes is a great way to try before you buy. You can rent a bike for a day, a weekend, or a week, and get your rental fee back if you choose to buy a bike.

Prices start from £49 a day and include our range of gravel, road, hardtail, and full suspension mountain bikes.

If you don't live close to any of our stores to collect your bike, we can post it to you for £99 (including return).

Rental cost will be refunded (excluding postage) if you decide to buy a Sonder bike afterwards.

How do I arrange to hire a bike?

If you live further afield and would like your bike sent to you, please contact Alpkit Metrocentre to arrange postage.

If you select to have your bike delivered, it will be fully prepared by our Sonder Technicians. All you'll
need to do is remove the packaging, attach the handlebars and the pedals (allen key required) then you're good to roll.

We'll arrange for our courier to pick the bike up from you on a pre-arranged date - usually the day after your demo has ended.
Someone will need to be available to pass the bike over to the courier at the pre-agreed address from 8am until 6pm.

What if I decide to buy a bike after my demo ride?

If you fall in love with your bike and decide to buy one following your ride we'll refund the rental cost from the final amount.

Please note: the postage cost is not included in the refund amount

How will I receive my bike?

Collect your bike from your selected Alpkit store. You will be able to collect from 10am and return by 5pm.

If you live further afield, we can deliver your bike to your home and collect it at the end of your rental period for £99.

I need to cancel my booking, what is your policy?

We understand that sometimes you may need to cancel your booking. Please contact the store at least 24 hours before, and we’ll transfer your booking to another day (subject to availability).

Can I pay in cash?

As a condition of our insurance, we ask for all hires to be paid by credit or debit card.

What is the minimum age to hire your bikes?

The hirer must be a person aged 18 years or over. Evidence of age may be requested.

What equipment do I need to bring?

We recommend dressing appropriately, including footwear and helmets. For your safety, we require all customers to bring and wear their own helmets while using our bike rental service. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you have a helmet that fits properly and meets safety standards.

What about insurance?

You are responsible for the bike and yourself whilst in possession of the bike, and you are responsible for providing your own insurance protection whilst using the hire bike.

Terms and conditions

The hirer is fully responsible for their actions whilst using the hire bike. Alpkit do not accept responsibility for the actions of the participant nor the consequences of such actions. 

The hirer is responsible for providing their own insurance protection while using a hire bike. Any accident or injury caused by the hirer’s actions will be the full responsibility of said hirer. 

The hirer will be fully responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the hirer. 

The hirer agrees that they are physically and mentally capable of riding the hire bike. 

The hirer must be a person aged 18 years or over. Evidence of age may be requested. 

Alpkit is not responsible for mechanical failures caused during the hire such as punctures or broken chains. The hirer takes full responsibility for carrying out trail repairs and will have the necessary skills, tools, and equipment necessary to complete their ride.

It is strongly recommended that riders of bikes hired from us wear a cycle helmet at all times. Alpkit reserve the right to refuse hire bike use to anyone with inappropriate equipment or clothing. Alpkit is not responsible for damage to clothing and/or personal items. 

The hirer agrees to return the bike to the hire bike staff. Failure to return the bike will result in Alpkit recovering the full retail value of the bike from the hirer. 

The hirer is responsible for any negligent damage caused to the bike. The cost of any damage caused (over and above standard wear and tear) will be recovered from the hirer.

Photo ID must be provided before the hire bike(s) will be released to the hirer. Only nationally recognised forms of ID will be accepted i.e. Photo driving license and passport. This will be kept in a secure location for the duration of the hire period.

Late return of the hire bike or damage to the hire bike that will effect the experience of subsequent hires will be charged at £10.
