Sigma gives you year-round protection from the elements combined with maximum product circularity – it’s fully recyclable at the end of its life. It’s a lightweight and breathable 3-layer jacket for all day comfort. A versatile hardshell, use it as part of a layering system to tick off Wainwrights in autumn or stash it in your pack to fend off summer showers in the hills.
- 3-layer construction for ultimate wet weather performance
- Next-to-skin comfort thanks to a soft-touch polyester knit backing fabric
- 10K MVTR fabric and mesh lined pockets to keep cool on the move
- Fully recycled and recyclable at end of life, finished with a PFC-free DWR
Designer’s notes
"We designed Sigma with circularity in mind. When it eventually comes to the end of its useful life (hopefully in many, many years’ time) most of the jacket can be recycled, rather than end up in landfill. By choosing a mono-monomer fabric construction, even down to the pocket bag mesh, we’ve made it as easy as possible to close the loop.
But we’ve not scrimped on performance to achieve this. Sigma has a 3-layer construction that’s fully waterproof and highly breathable for use in all seasons and all weathers. It’s also got all the features you need for a day on the hill like a map pocket, adjustable, wired-peak hood, semi-elasticated cuffs and soft touch fabric for next-to-skin comfort. Sigma will shrug off showers and storms alike."

Sustainability and Product Care
Sustainability
Recycled materials
Sigma uses a 100% recycled polyester fabric using a single polymer meaning it can be easily recycled at end-of-life.
PFC-free DWR
Sigma has a completely PFC-free DWR treatment on its outer fabric. PFCs are potentially harmful and have been found to build up in the environment. We don't like the sound of that and are one of the first outdoor brands in the world to eliminate them from our range.
Where it's made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.
All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.
We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intensity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.
End of life
When your partnership with this product is over send it back to us and we will pass it on to someone that needs it through our Continuum Project.
Product care
Washing instructions
Wash: 30˚C, delicate cycle at or hand wash with lukewarm water.
Dry: Line dry or tumble dry on low heat.
Iron: Use a cool iron to reactivate the DWR.
Use a technical wash product (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash) or pure soap. DO NOT use detergent, fabric conditioners or softeners. Rinse thoroughly in clean water.
Caring for your DWR
To keep your jacket’s DWR treatment in good condition, wash it regularly in pure soap or a specialist cleaner. You may also need to refresh the treatment once or twice a year dependent on usage. Use a spray-on reproofer to maintain your jacket's wicking ability.
