Description

Simple doesn’t have to mean basic. Light, packable and reliable, with a fully adjustable hood, The Argonaut allows you to get your head down and crack on, whatever the weather throws at you.

  • Relaxed fit for layering year-round and moving freely
  • Mesh pockets double up as vents for extra breathability
  • Lightweight and packable 2.5L fabric for shoving in rucksacks

The Argonaut’s relaxed fit leaves plenty of space for you to layer it over a fleece or base layer, and room to move whatever the activity. It really is the Swiss Army knife of waterproofs, equally at home strolling up fells, riding churned up bridleways or wrestling tents up in a downpour.

With 10K/10K (HH/MVTR) performance for waterproofing and breathability, the Argonaut will keep you protected and dry in all but the most extreme of typical British weather conditions. The outer fabric is a durable 50D ripstop nylon (made from 100% recycled polyester) to withstand all manner of outdoor scuffs and scrapes.

The Argonaut uses a lightweight 2.5 layer construction. This half layer is a super-thin protective print that reduces weight whilst still protecting your waterproof membrane from wear. This also makes the fabric nice and flexible for moving in and stashing away easily in packs.

When you're working up a sweat on steeper inclines, the mesh-lined pockets can dump extra heat by doubling-up as vents. A fully adjustable can be cinched right in during a gale or rolled away when the clouds clear and the cuffs are velcro-adjustable. To finish it off, a double storm flap stops water squeezing inside in during a downpour.

Care & Environmental Advice

Product Care Information

Caring For Your DWR
To keep your jacket’s durable water repellent (DWR) treatment in tip-top condition, wash it regularly in pure soap or a specialist cleaner. You may also need to refresh the treatment about once or twice a year (depending on usage) using a reproofer. Using a spray-on reproofer maintains your jacket's wicking ability.

Washing Instructions
Wash on a delicate cycle at 30˚C or hand wash with lukewarm water. Use a technical wash product (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash) or pure soap. DO NOT use detergent, fabric conditioners or softeners. Rinse thoroughly in clean water. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat. You can also use a cool iron to reactivate the DWR.

Environmental considerations

PFC-Free DWR
The Argonaut uses a completely PFC-free DWR treatment on its outer fabric. PFCs are potentially harmful and have been found to build up in the environment. We don't like the sound of that so we've been working hard to get rid of them.

Recycled Materials
The Argonaut’s uses a 100% recycled nylon outer fabric, made from post-industrial sources. This uses and leftover stuff from nylon production and fabric scraps from the cutting process and remakes it into brand new nylon fabric!

Singletrack Review the Argonaut

This jacket performs excellently in a huge range of conditions, and while I only tested it on the bike in winter, I have no doubt it would suit other activities just as well at other times of year.
