Supporting the Scout Association

Supporting the Scout Association

By Alpkit

Supporting the Scout Association opens the door to adventures. From pitching tents to conquering rapids, kids learn skills that shape their world.

The Alpkit Foundation is pleased to support The Scout Association. Scouts take part in activities such as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas and climbing. First aid and survival skills are taught, and team work, communication and leadership skills are developed. The Scout Association is the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation and every year over 450,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures.

However, there are potential areas that The Scout Association’s current grant is unfortunately not able to support. The first is the ‘Youth in Adventure’ project, which aims to equip 18 - 25 year olds with the skills that will allow them to lead activities for younger members. The second is the top expedition awards - the Scouts of the World award and the Explorer Belt. These awards provide opportunities for young people to undertake expeditions and voluntary work in both the UK and abroad.

There are 2 potential barriers facing the young people wanting to participate; funding and availability of equipment. The Alpkit Foundation is providing the funds to train 50 18-24 year old leaders, and supply equipment when needed.
