Cutting edge technology
The Alpkit name means our waterproof jackets perform as you demand: waterproof and breathable. Not being signed to Goretex or the other component fabrics means we are free to innovate our fabrics with the worlds best mills. Our fabrics are cutting-edge in terms of performance and sustainability.
Sigma's fabric has been developed by us with performance and circularity in mind. It has 10,000 HH waterproof rating and 15,000 MVTR breathability rating makes it best in class for outdoor activity in the UK's temperate climates.

Impact
"A waterproof jacket hillwalking jacket that is eco-conscious too" The Ramblers Magazine
Sigma is designed with circularity in mind. It is made with a mono monomer construction. This means all components are made from the same material making the garment easier to recycle at the end of its life as it doesnt need to be broken down into separate recycling streams.
Sigma is made from 100% post consumer waste recycled polyester which itself is recyclable. Sigma's durable water repellent coating is entirely free from PFC's. Regularly wash and reproof your jacket at home to maintain its performance using Nikwax, Grangers or our own Alpkit Wash & Reproof care kits.
Do not be fearful that recycled implies a secondhand performance. Sigma has been tested for abrasion, durability, breathability and waterproofing.
Designer’s notes
"We designed Sigma with with wet weather performance, cross-over use and circularity in mind.
When it eventually comes to the end of its useful life (hopefully in many, many years’ time) most of the jacket can be recycled, rather than end up in landfill. By choosing a mono-monomer fabric construction, even down to the pocket bag mesh, we’ve made it as easy as possible to close the loop.
But we’ve not scrimped on performance to achieve this. Sigma has a 3-layer construction that’s fully waterproof and highly breathable for use in all seasons and all weathers. It’s also got all the features you need for a day on the hill like a map pocket, adjustable, wired-peak hood, semi-elasticated cuffs and soft touch fabric for next-to-skin comfort. Sigma will shrug off showers and storms alike."

Designer‘s notes
"We designed the Sigma with circularity in mind, so that when it eventually comes to the end of it’s useful life (hopefully in many, many year’s time) the majority of the jacket could be recycled, rather than end up in landfill. By choosing a mono-monomer (try saying that fast!) fabric construction, even down to the pocket bag mesh, we’ve made it as easy as possible to close the loop. Some elements like the zips and cord aren’t yet recyclable, which is where the challenge for future development lies. No one said it was easy…"Designer‘s notes
Sustainability and Product Care
Caring for your DWR
To keep your jacket’s DWR treatment in good condition, wash it regularly in pure soap or a specialist cleaner. You may also need to refresh the treatment once or twice a year dependent on usage. Use a spray-on reproofer to maintain your jacket's wicking ability.
