What’s in my pack? 10 camping kit essentials
From bivvy nights and solo wild camps to microadventures a little closer to home — this simple camping kit list is of the 10 things that @allmtnbiker packs for every trip. Tried and tested in the UK hills, these essentials strike the balance between packable, practical and built to last.

Sleep Setup
Pipedream 400 Down Sleeping Bag
My go-to for 3-season trips. Light, lofty and warm with a water-repellent down fill — perfect for UK nights when temperatures dip below comfy. Packs small so there’s still room for the rest of your gear.
Whisper Inflatable Mat
This mat punches above its weight. You get full-body comfort, insulation from cold ground, and it still rolls up smaller than a bottle of wine. Ideal for lightweight adventures or bikepacking.
Drift Inflatable Pillow
Small but mighty — the Drift makes all the difference to next-morning stiffness. It’s inflatable, weighs nothing, and still feels soft against your cheek.
Brew + Cook Kit
Koro Titanium Stove
Light, stable and fast to boil. The Koro’s wide base suits real cooking (not just packet noodles) and folds down flat to slide into your mug or pot.
MytiMug 650
It’s a mug, pot and mini kitchen in one. Big enough to boil water or cook solo meals, small enough to double as your brew mug. Made from titanium so it’s tough and featherlight.
Piezo Lighter
Tiny spark-maker that lights your stove even with cold fingers. No fuel, no batteries, just click and go.
Concertina Windshield
Stops your stove getting bullied by the wind. Makes your fuel go further and your boil faster. It folds up flat to slip into any side pocket.
Clothing + Warmth
Filoment Down Jacket
Throw it on as soon as the sun dips. Lightweight but toasty, it squishes down into its own stuff sack and lives in my pack all year round. Also doubles as a pillow if you forget the Drift…
Night-time Essentials
Qark Rechargeable Headtorch
Bright, reliable, and charges via USB so you’re never left fumbling in the dark. Perfect for camp cooking, night walks, or finding your way to a wee in the woods.
Shelter
Jaran 2 Tent
Roomy for one, snug for two. The Jaran is fast to pitch, freestanding, and just tough enough for UK hill weather. Ideal for backpacking and wild camping, with space for boots and kit in the porch.
Need help building your kit?
This list works brilliantly as a minimal setup — but if you’re just starting out or looking to build a complete wild camping kit, we’ve put together a Complete Camping Checklist to help you out. It includes layers, navigation, first aid, and a few extra comforts for UK conditions.
You can also browse all our camping gear or head to tents, sleeping bags, or camp stoves depending on what you need.
See you out there. And don’t forget the mug.
