We’ve all been there: desperately arranging a roughly folded fleece or lumpy drybag into a wholly disappointing makeshift pillow.

At just 100g (including stuff-sack), the Drift camping pillow weighs just a touch more than that clean pair of undies you’re still trying to justify taking. It packs down to the size of a tennis ball, and should squeeze itself nicely into the dead space in your rucksack or seat-pack.

The strong plastic inflatable inner is hardwearing and protected by a soft, washable fabric cover for next-to-skin comfort. Whether you opt for a high, low, firm or squashy pillow, the Drift can be air-adjusted to your personal preference. The two layers are also designed to have built-in stretch for a not-quite-as-good-as-your-own-bed-but-pretty-damn-close night’s sleep. Narrow enough to sit squarely within the hood of your sleeping bag or bivvy bag, the Drift is still wide enough to stop you rolling off it in the middle of the night.

There will always be the purists and hardcore toothbrush-shorteners who turn their nose up at every unnecessary gram. But we know that, after a hard day tramping trails, grinding gears or just driving the length of the country for a weekend raid, you can’t put a price (or weight) on a good night’s sleep. The only downside we can foresee is the risk of keeping your fellow campers awake with the low rumble of contented snoring.
