As part of a long term support to the Scout Association, The Alpkit Foundation has been pleased to be supporting their Youth in Adventure project.
There are areas that the Scout Association’s current grant is unfortunately unable to support. One of these it the ‘Youth in Adventure’ project. Scouts take part in activities such as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas and climbing. First aid and survival skills are taught, and team work, communication and leadership skills are developed. The Scout Association is the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation and every year over 450,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures. With the Alpkit Foundation rolling award set up it allows them to offer small individual grants to equip young people in Scouting (aged 18-25) with skills that will allow them to lead adventurous activities in Scouting for other young people.
The Alpkit Foundation Youth in Adventure Fund aims to
* Support individual Young People (18-25) to undertake activity and adventure training courses leading to, or towards, a permit authorising them to lead activities for members of Scouting’s Youth Sections, or to train others to do so.
* Support individual Young People (18-25) to purchase equipment enabling them to undertake such activity and adventure training courses.
