Dive into James Forrest's evaluation of the Alpkit Qark headtorch. Learn about its standout brightness, lasting performance, and features making it a top choice for runners, all at a competitive price point
James Forrest, writing for The Independent emphasises the exceptional power-to-price ratio of the Alpkit Qark headtorch for runners.
With a robust 580 lumens output, it offers a brightness level often seen in pricier alternatives. Powered by a USB-rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the headtorch's performance varies: 2.5 hours at maximum brightness, 5.5 hours at medium (270 lumens), and a commendable 18 hours at the lowest 30 lumens setting.
We wore this headtorch on a handful of walks around Cockermouth, a market town in north-west Cumbria, and on dusk runs up nearby fells Watch Hill and Ling Fell.
In Forrest's personal tests around Cockermouth and during runs on the fells, he appreciated the added stability from the central over-the-head strap. The torch's focusing ring and 90-degree tilt function proved handy, especially when navigating rocky terrains.
Although the Qark doesn't outshine some of its more expensive counterparts in terms of performance and features, Forrest believes it provides significant value for its price.
