A practical one-day course to improve your navigation skills
Join us at Alpkit Hathersage on July 30th for a map reading master class in the heart of the Peak District, for hillwalkers aiming to improve their skills out on the hill. Led by instructors from Pure Outdoors.
This map reading masterclass will build on your fundamental navigation and map reading using OS maps. An initial and short theory session followed by a full day out on the hills which will give you plenty of opportunity to practice and gain advice and encouragement from your school of adventure instructor.
By the end of the day you will have developed a more comprehensive approach to map reading techniques and gained further experience for you next adventure
Expect to walk approximately 10km throughout the day. The day will start and finish at the Alpkit shop and we will be walking from Hathersage, so if travelling by car please park somewhere suitable for the full day.
Laminated maps will be provided. Several compasses are also available to borrow are available to buy from the Alpkit store so you can take you new-found skills into practice on your own walks. You will need a packed lunch, suitable walking footwear and waterproofs.
The minimum age for the course is 13+. Under 16's must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian
