Open water swimming requires buoyancy, freedom of movement and insulation - a combination you just don't get in a standard wetsuit. Designed in collaboration with industry guru Dean Jackson, Lotic was made to meet these demands.
The right level of buoyancy helps you to move swiftly and efficiently through the water. We’ve used slightly thicker neoprene at the back, upper legs and glutes to lift your lower body. This reduces drag at the front of the wetsuit and stops your legs from getting so tired, promoting a more efficient swimming position...Read more
Lotic uses thinner neoprene around the shoulders, chest and underarms, leaving your upper body unrestricted so you can really reach forward for long, powerful strokes. The collar and cuffs are thinner still to reduce wetsuit chafing.
Glideskin neoprene makes up most of Lotic. This gives it excellent dirt and water repellence and reduces drag through water so that you move more efficiently. Glideskin also reduces heat conduction from the body, making it warmer than standard neoprene. The lower leg is a high abrasion area, so we’ve used nylon-faced neoprene around the calf and shin for added durability.
The wrists, ankles, shoulders and neck feature flashes of red for better visibility. A long lanyard zip-puller up the back means you can get into your wetsuit without relying on a passer-by to help you!
Whether you’re an experience open water swimmer or transitioning over from the pool, Lotic offers the best balance between flexibility, buoyancy and warmth.Read less

When you are pulling on your suit take care not to use your finger nails. Check your suit for fit and range of motion. Your suit will feel different when wet. The neoprene collar and cuffs can be trimmed with scissors if they extend too far. Rinse your suit out with fresh water after each use. Hang the wetsuit inside out and allow to dry away from direct sunlight or heat source. Store your suit in a cool room on a wide plastic coat hanger. Roll your suit when transporting rather than fold. Don’t use petroleum products with your suit as this will damage the neoprene. Small tears can be repaired with neoprene cement/glue.

|Note: These suits are sized for a performance fit, so if you are unused to wearing a swimming wetsuit you may still find it tight. If you prefer a comfort fit go up a size, but note it will be less thermally efficient.|
The Lotic: What was it like?Yep- comfy, the sizing was good, the zip worked every time. I could get it on and off easily. We dried it out everytime it got used, inside and out, and it never stunk. Brilliant.
Yes, I put a few half-moon cuts in the skin as I was putting it on, but hey, that was always going to happen, Black witch was there to make it good, and so we went on.
perfect for coasteering adventures – features various thicknesses of neoprene to provide the best balance between manoeuvrability, comfort and warmth
"We particularly liked the neck of the Lotic - simple, soft nylon made it extremely comfortable ... Another nice touch was the little pocket on the inside of the suit..."
Very comfy, nice and flexible around the shoulders and knees and a really great fit.|Now this is the point where any wetsuit earns its stripes, halfway through the swim, 2.4 miles and over 1.15 hour of swimming and the thickness and warmth are key. This is where the Lotic stood out for me, I didn't feel the cold at all and this really helped my muscles stay warm and my breathing measured. I powered through and really began to enjoy the beautiful scenery, taking in the rising sun as we swam across the lake.|I couldn't recommed the Alpkit Lotic highly enough, super warm and thick without sacrificing on comfort and flexibility
The Alpkit Lotic wetsuit has been tested in rivers, lakes and the sea around the UK by seasoned wild swimmers. It’s been praised for its good heat retention, flexibility and how easy it is to pull on and take off. If you can’t live without swimming outdoors year-round, the Lotic wetsuit is perfect for you.
Outdoor Swimming Society put our Terrapin, Lotic and Silvertip to the test
I couldn’t recommed the Alpkit Lotic highly enough, super warm and thick without sacrificing on comfort and flexibility. My only critism was that there isn’t a velco patch above the bum to stick the zip string to while swimming but other than that it’s baptism of fire at the Double Brutal swim proved the Lotic to be up there with the best wetsuits I’ve worn!
Verdict: Excellent range of motion, very warm with low abrasion around the neck 94%
