A Cycling Year

Month by month, Heather Dawe writes and illustrates about her year exploring the nooks and crannies of Yorkshire by bike. From Otley to Scarborough and from Hebden Bridge to Garsdale, Heather Dawe takes in iconic locations and events, including Masham Show and Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross.

A Cycling Year also explores how other writers and artists use cycling, nature and landscape to inspire them. From Edward Thomas to Eric Ravilous and Rebecca Solnit, Dawe illustrates the links between the inspirational nature of the roads and trails on her doorstep and the creative works of other innovators.
