Staff trustee Elly
The Alpkit Foundation is a crucial part of what we do as a business here at Alpkit and we think it's incredibly important that our staff feel they can get involved and have a say in the work that we are doing. We currently have 3 staff trustees at present and it's wonderful to see them taking such an active role. Elly works in customer support and brings her energy and passion to great effect in helping us maximise the impact we make through the Alpkit Foundation. Let's meet her...
"I’m really chuffed to be on the board of trustees as the Alpkit Foundation sits at the heart of what Alpkit stands for. Working in Customer Support I get to hear about the epic adventures our customers go on, from custom bags for Mountain Rescue, jackets for munro bagging in the Cairngorms, to massive bike packing adventures!
Being outside hiking, wild swimming or climbing (badly!) has always helped me to get out of my own head and appreciate the world we have around us. There’s nothing better than being out on the hills and taking in a massive view with your friends. I was a carer from a young age, so getting outside became an escape for me. Because of that, I’m eager to make sure that nature is available to anyone, regardless of their abilities."
"In my personal life I’m passionate about recycling, upcycling and keeping clothes out of landfill. If our work in the Continuum project (funded by the AKF) can keep useful clothing out of landfill and into the hands of those who will love and use it, then I think that’s a job well done!
It makes me sick when I go wild swimming or hiking and litter has been left in the wild, so I’ve started taking mesh bags out with me to collect litter as we go! "
