Rival22 Touring
If you’re touring fully-loaded, you’re going to want the FSA super compact 48/32 chainset with an 11 – 36 cassette at the back. With big wide gear ratios (ranging from 0.89:1 to 4.36:1) it’ll get you up Winnat’s Pass fully-loaded without taking too much off your top speed, so you’ll still be spinning it out at 30 mph pretty comfortably. In old money, the gear ratio is 23" to 109" which is gives a huge range of gears for load carrying and makes for a very comfortable ride. So it is important to avoid cross-chaining when riding. Cross-chaining on any bike puts stress on the drivetrain and can cause premature wear of the components. The rule of thumb to follow is that when on the big ring, only use the smaller two-thirds of the cassette. When on the inner ring, only use the inner two-thirds. With an 11-36 cassette, it is not possible to use the larger two cogs on the rear cassette when in the big chainring - please get in touch with the Sonder team to swap to for an 11 to 32 rear cassette if you prefer.Reynolds 631 steel tubing
Durable, smooth and assured on those multi-month trips Reynolds 631 steel is an excellent material for round-the-world touring where you’re completely dependent on your bike. We’d be surprised if you needed to get your frame repaired, but it’s comforting to know that finding a steel welder in the middle of nowhere is far easier than getting your alloy frame repaired.

Traditional bike, contemporary geometry
Santiago’s takes classic road bike geometry as a starting point, with a longer wheelbase and higher stack height for a more comfortable riding position and assured ride, whether you’re travelling light or fully loaded up.

Generous tyre clearance
Clearance for up to 650b x 47 mm or 700c x 37 mm tyres that make your ride more comfortable and give better grip on the bitumen as you corner.

Full traditional mounts
With full rack and guard mountains, 3 sets of bottle cage bosses and extra cage mounts on the fork, Santiago can handle being fully loaded up.
